We are now living in a mobile world where devices outnumber people. To be productive when you’re on the go, you need access to the data and applications that allow you to be effective while untethered from your workspace or home. At Microsoft, with our mobile-first, cloud-first strategy, we strive to provide our customers with the services, applications and data that roam wherever they do.

Microsoft recently announced that the core editing and viewing capabilities of Office 365 will now be free on any for device with a screen size of 10.1 inches or less, ensuring a quality mobile experience for anyone who wants the power of Office literally at their fingertips. In addition, Microsoft expanded its strategic agreements with Samsung, Dell and nine other leading device manufacturers, which will pre-install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype on Android devices coming to market later this year. To help our commercial customers better embrace and take advantage of the new mobility and BYOD trends, we also made mobile device management (MDM) capabilities generally available for Office 365. The built-in MDM features are included at no additional cost in all Office 365 commercial plans, including business, enterprise, education and government plans.

In another important development this week, we made Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online available from Australian datacenters. Before the announcement, Office 365 completed a formal security assessment for unclassified sensitive government data through the Australian government’s Independent Registered Assessors Program (IRAP), becoming the first cloud productivity service to provide IRAP assurance in Australia. We hope this level of security, along with the faster performance, geo-redundant backup and data residency assurance offered by our local service, will help our Australian customers compete more effectively on a global scale.
