Microsoft Office was initially conceived as a productivity tool for business—the name says it all—and many people had their first experience with Office applications either at work or at school. Office is still essential for many businesses, of course, and companies of all sizes are realizing even more benefits by adopting Office 365 and moving to the cloud. Today, Office 365 is also an important tool for education and government, helping schools, universities and government agencies reduce costs, enhance collaboration and increase productivity.During the past two weeks, we made it easier than ever for students worldwide to get free access to Office 365, which will help them develop the skills they’ll need to succeed when they enter the workforce. OneNote Class Notebook proved to be so popular with teachers that we recently announced the release of OneNote Staff Notebook for Education to cultivate and manage educator collaboration at the district and school level. We also translated the tools, and the interactive guides that can help educators learn to use them, into five common languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, French and German.
We also made some great improvements to Office Mix, which has become a dynamic learning tool in many classrooms, along with its many other uses. We started by making it even easier to use by implementing several new authoring and publishing enhancements. In addition, Office Mix users can now share their Mixes on social media or embed them in their blogs or web sites. Finally, to extend the benefits of Office Mix to the professional e-Learning community, we added support for SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model), the industry standard for packaging digital learning content.
