“Think Globally, Act Locally” became the mantra of the fledgling environmental movement after the first nationwide Earth Day celebration in 1970. The motto was a driving force that represented the impact individuals working in their local communities can have on a global scale.
Many people view the software they use in much the same way. Software has the ability to enhance the productivity of individuals by enabling them to communicate, collaborate and do their work more easily and efficiently every day and when added up can have a bigger global impact. That’s the beauty of Office 365; it is a global product designed to meet the individual needs of billions of people worldwide. One recent example of how we enable every user to make Office 365 work best for them is boards for Office Delve, a new feature that makes it easy to organize content so it’s readily accessible and easy to share with others.
Another way that Microsoft takes a “think globally, act locally” approach is by providing Office 365, along with other cloud-based services, from local datacenters in a growing number of locations. We recently announced India and Australia, and opened our Japanese datacenter. Having services provided and data stored locally is good for our customers and our partners, and Microsoft is a leading advocate for protecting the privacy of that data in adherence with local laws and regulations.
As the new year begins, we are excited about the many new features and improvements that are coming in 2015, which will make Office 365 even better—both globally and locally.
