Since the launch of the OneNote Class Notebook Creator just over two months ago, many schools like St. Thomas School have begun using OneNote class notebooks in their classrooms as framework for teaching and learning. Based on their feedback, the app has been updated with the ability to add more teachers to the class notebook, localization in 10 languages and 21 markets, improved discoverability of class notebooks in OneDrive for Business and SharePoint team sites, and a host of other improvements. For the countries in these new markets, the application is now available through the Office Store and more languages/markets will be coming in the near future.

Improvements from educator requests
If you haven’t heard, OneNote Class Notebook Creator lets a teacher quickly set up a personal workspace for every student, a content library for handouts and a collaboration space for lessons and creative activities—all within one powerful notebook.
The OneNote team is part of a larger movement at Microsoft to develop solutions specifically for education, building tools just for educators so that they can focus on bringing innovation to their teaching methods and helping students succeed. Between the feedback from teachers and the importance of getting OneNote used in classrooms across the world, we have made a number of improvements that should make OneNote an even more powerful tool for inspiring organization and collaboration between students and teachers:
- The ability to add more teachers to the class notebook—Co-teachers, team teachers, student teachers and substitute teachers can now have full teacher access to student notebooks.
- New Language support—The OneNote Class Notebook Creator has been localized in 10 languages across 21 markets, with even more languages coming very soon.
- Improved discoverability in Office 365—Class notebook links are now automatically added to Shared with me in OneDrive for Business, and a new Class Notebooks entry is added to the SharePoint Team Sites Quick Launch navigation pane.
- Get an email when the class notebook is created—After a teacher creates the OneNote class notebook in either a SharePoint Team Site or OneDrive for Business, all students and the teacher automatically get an email with the link to the notebook location.
- Keep track of your notebook links—Easily find your existing OneNote class notebook links from within the app by clicking the Get notebook links button.
- Performance improvements—Up to 66 percent reduction in notebook creation time.
- Easier for IT Admins—We’ve reduced the need for the OneNote Class Notebook Creator app to require Full Control permissions for teachers and also documented how to more effectively set up permissions groups for teachers. IT Admins can follow our interactive guide to learn more.
- Additional user interface improvements and bug fixes.
One final note
We have heard from you that the OneNote Class Notebook Creator is the single most compelling reason for teachers and students to begin activating their Office 365 ProPlus subscriptions immediately. Since Office 365 ProPlus is now free for eligible students and teachers. OneNote is available for download on all major devices and browsers, while the OneNote Class Notebook Creator app installs on SharePoint Online and requires the OneNote notebook to be stored on a OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online team site. Thus, OneNote and Office 365 Education users are able to get started with OneNote class notebooks regardless of device type!
