OneNote has had a busy month with new features across Windows, Windows Phone, Android, and OneNote Online, this means you now have more options for capturing your notes, in higher fidelity, across all of your devices. SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business have been listening to your feedback by adding a simpler admin UI, a new pooled storage model, searching for sensitive content, and OneDrive for Business support on Android. Office 365 Personal, Office 365 Home, and Office 365 University updates:
Office Lens updates – Office Lens for Windows Phone now cleans up photos, similar to a scanner to produce clearer images of documents. An additional option lets you specify where you save your Office Lens images in OneNote by notebook and section.
OneNote Online co-authoring improvements – Like Office Online, OneNote Online now uses the “People Presence” feature to show you who else is in a notebook, working with you. Syncing enhancements bring OneNote closer to real-time co-authoring.
OneNote updates Windows Store app – Now you can print your notes, insert file attachments, insert PDFs printouts so you can take notes right on the document, and use the highlighter, with different styles, to call out key information.
OneNote for Android update – A redesigned OneNote for Android now supports Android tablets. In addition, you can now take handwritten notes, letting you draw, annotate, and for devices with a digitizer, use a pen to take notes. You can now customize your notes with grid lines, ruled lines, new formatting options, like font type, size, color, alignment, and style, with the new ribbon for Android.
Office 365 for business updates*:
SharePoint Online admin updates – New settings let admins change the SharePoint Online admin interface, including a new simple view. Admins can now also change which top navigation items show up for their Office 365 users. Another new setting allows you to disable SharePoint 2013 Workflows from being used with SharePoint Online.
SharePoint Online simplifies storage management – Storage for SharePoint Online now uses a shared pool model, freeing up valuable storage and auto-assigning it to SharePoint site collections as needed. The number of Site Collections has also increased from 10,000 to 500,000.
Taxonomy Refinement Panel Web Part – New web parts and SharePoint Online site design options enable you to create search-driven publishing for your organization’s intranet sites. Faced navigation enhances your sites with new left hand options based on filters powered by the term store.
Lync Mobile for iOS updates – Now with your iPad during a Lync meeting use the new Gallery View featuring four live video streams at once. You can now manage the meeting lobby from your iPhone and iPad, letting you admit or deny people to the meeting, as well as promote and demote participants from presenter or attendee status.
Search for sensitive content in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business – Now your organization can search for sensitive content across SharePoint and OneDrive for Business, search for 51 pre-defined information types, such as credit cards, passport numbers, Social Security numbers, and more, identify such documents, export a report, and gain insight for your organizations risk.
OneDrive for Business android update – You can now access your OneDrive for Business files using OneDrive for Android. The same app you use for your personal OneDrive has been updated to support OneDrive for Business as well. To enhance security even more you can also add a PIN to your OneDrive app as an additional layer to limit access.

Office 365 developer updates:
Office 365 API tool for Visual Studio update 3 – Changes include, improved Azure Active Directory registration for new apps, Support for managing redirect URIs in ASP.NET web app projects, status messages in Visual Studio output, and support for Windows Phone 8.1 projects. In addition, the Office 365 API client libraries have also been updated. This includes, breaking changes to the Office 365 API authentication library (Preview), updates to multi-device Cordova applications, and Active Directory Authentication Library support for Windows Phone 8.1.
Update on the Autohosted Apps Preview Program – Part 2 – Autohosted Apps support is being further reduced. Please see this article for documentation on how to move your app from Autohosted App to provider-hosted.
Office 365 APIs using AngularJS – New samples help developers to use the Office 365 APIs using the AngularJS framework.
SharePoint API improvements from Uservoice feedback – Added new controls for settings using the SharePoint API. These new controls help with automating site provisioning and custom branding.
JSON Light support in REST SharePoint API – Based on feedback, developers can now specific how much metadata a request will return using JSON Light with the REST API.
Open sourcing the Exchange Web Service (EWS) Java API – EWS API 1.3 is now available for developers to contribute with a new GitHub release and MIT license.
