Patience may be a virtue, but few things are more frustrating than being forced to wait for something you need right away. One of the great things about Office 365 is that you’re always up to date. You don’t have to wait for new features and capabilities. You get them automatically, as soon as they’re available.
One area where we know customers don’t want to wait is with the security and privacy features of our products. Microsoft recently became the first major cloud provider to adopt ISO/IEC 27018, the world’s first international standard for protecting the privacy of personal data stored in the cloud. We also achieved the highest possible rating for our compliance with HITRUST, a standard that is particularly important to organizations that create, access, store or exchange personal health and financial information. Finally, we recently announced a number of upcoming security improvements for Office 365, from cross-platform support for Information Rights Management (IRM) in Office applications to enhanced Office 365 Message Encryption.
Outside of security features we made some other announcements this last week, including native cloud storage integration in the iPad and iPhone Office apps to make it easier to access, edit and share files from within the Office apps. We also announced that we are making it possible for cloud services to integrate Office Online into their applications with our new Cloud Storage Partner Program, so with any web browser you will now be able to open, view and edit documents stored in services like Box, Citrix and Salesforce.
