One great advantage of our Office 365 cloud-based productivity suite is that you no longer have to wait months or years, until a new version of Office is released to receive software updates and improvements. You get new features immediately, as part of your Office 365 subscription, as soon as they are available and ready to use.
Microsoft developers are the source of those ongoing improvements and new features—and not only our internal developers. Office 365 is a platform as well as a product, and there is a growing community of developers who are building new applications for Office 365, and creating new solutions to enhance the service and tailor it to the needs of their organizations. During the past two weeks, we took two important steps to provide additional resources and support for Office 365 developers. First, we launched the newly redesigned Office Dev Center, to provide essential training and guidance for Office 365 developers who are creating cloud solutions. Second, we shipped our first free on-demand training coursesfor Office 365 developers, which is available through the Microsoft Virtual Academy.
Ultimately, however, it is end users who determine the true value of any product, based on how well it meets their needs. Office 365 continues to win high praise from a wide range of users. Large and small businesses report impressive cost savings and productivity gains with Office 365, while teachers and their students share stories of amazing learning experiences that Office 365 made possible. And law firms, many of which already use Office 365, soon will have a powerful new tool. The Matter Center for Microsoft Office 365, which we recently released in a preview version, is a document and collaboration solution that enables legal professionals to collaborate on legal matters from virtually anywhere, any time, and on any device.
Meanwhile, we’ll just keep improving Office 365.
