​People expect existing Excel documents from their desktop to look identical when they share them in the cloud. In this demo, you see completely different results when viewing the same document via either Excel Online or via Google Sheets.

The same Excel file is saved on Microsoft OneDrive (or SharePoint) and Google Drive. Below highlights some of the key file integrity differences when viewed through Excel Online vs. Google Sheets.
  • Excel Online

    Table Filter: Excel Web App displays the filters and retains the functionality as in the original document. Opening in Google Spreadsheets, the filters are removed. Slicers: Excel Web App displays Slicers to filter graph data, just as the original file does. Opening in Google Spreadsheets, the Slicers are missing and graph no longer allows interactive data analysis. Chart type: Excel Online shows the 100% Stacked Column chart type, just as the original file does. Opening in Google Sheets, the details on the chart overlap related descriptions. Pivot Chart: Excel Web App displays the Pivot Chart as it appears in the original file. Opening in Google Sheetsjust as the original file does. Opening in Google Sheets, the details on the chart overlap related descriptions. Chart: Excel Online displays the graph as it appears in the original file. Opening in Google Sheets, the key format causes the data table to appear smaller and harder to read.
     
  • Google Sheets
