The OneNote team is always thinking about new ways to help you capture important information quickly and make it easily available to you wherever you are. These are two essential elements that we focus on so you be more productive with OneNote. I’m excited to share that we recently published an update to OneNote for iPhone with two features we think will really help out as you strive to capture and recall information on the go.

Quick capture your thoughts from Notification Center

One of the most exciting additions to iOS 8 was the ability to install widgets in Notification Center, allowing you to quickly get a glance of new information or perform quick actions without needing to open the app.

OneNote wants to make it as seamless as possible for you to jot down what you want to remember and get back to what matters most. This is where the OneNote Today widget comes in—here’s what it looks like:

OneNote updates

Now, whenever you swipe down to bring up Notification Center, you have one-tap access to OneNote!

Tap on Note to create a new note and bring the keyboard up, so you can start typing your thoughts and ideas immediately. The Photo button launches directly into Office Lens, allowing you to not only take a photo, but also enhance and clean up documents and whiteboards. And the List button creates a new page and start a to-do list quickly.

Here’s how to enable the OneNote Today widget:

  1. Download OneNote for iPhone or get the latest version from the Updates tab in the App Store.
  2. Swipe down from the top of your screen to activate the Notification Center.
  3. Tap the Today
  4. Tap You may need to scroll down to see it.
  5. Find OneNote in the list and tap the green Add button to enable the widget.
Bonus: Use the gripper on the right side to drag OneNote all the way to the top!
  6. Tap Done.

You’re now ready to start using the OneNote Today widget!

Access your most recent notes from anywhere

OneNote is the perfect tool for creating and accessing your notes anywhere. This combination is especially powerful when you use OneNote on multiple devices. With today’s update, we have updated the Recent Notes list on OneNote for iPhone to include the notes you’ve most recently edited on any device.

So now, you can quite literally start on your desktop or tablet and pick up right where you left off in OneNote on your iPhone. And don’t forget you can still pin your favorite notes to the top of your Recent Notes list. And of course, things works seamlessly with the new OneNote Today widget.

We’ve also introduced a number of bug fixes and performance improvements across our iPhone, iPad, and Mac clients.

We hope you love these updates as much as we do. As usual, we want to hear your feedback so we can keep making OneNote better. Let us know what you think!
