May has brought a slew of updates to both mobile apps, like OneNote and Lync, and web experiences, like optimizations for OneDrive for business, Office 365 admin experience, and developer APIs. Make sure you read about Office Mix, a new presentation format for creating reusable learning content. Power BI continues to add more data connections, this month through a partnership with SAP to help customers bring disparate data sources into one BI tool. Office 365 Personal, Office 365 Home, and Office 365 University updates:
OneNote for iPhone update – This major update redesigned the OneNote UI for iOS 7, added the ability to create new notebooks and sections from the iPhone app, faster access to create a note with Quick Notes button on the bottom of every screen, and Office Lens so you can insert paper documents and whiteboards into your notes.
OneNote for Mac update – Added top customer requested features, such as the ability to print your notes, improved copy and paste for formatted content, drag and drop pictures, display names for hyperlinks, format painter, and performance improvements.
Office Mix – Create interactive PowerPoint presentations for enhanced learning and classroom scenarios. You can create lessons, quizzes, integrate online video, 3rd-party learning content, and easily share your lessons with students.
New Outlook.com mail rules – Outlook.com has added new mail rules for complex behaviors and filtering. There is also an undo button, a new in-line reply functionality, and an improve chat and messaging interface.
Save email to OneNote with CloudMagic – CloudMagic mail app supports saving email directly to OneNote.
Office 365 for business updates*:
Project Lite now generally available – Project team members can now easily update timesheets, manage assigned tasks, add issues and risks, and stay in sync with the project with a this new lightweight offering for $7.00 per person per month.

Alternate login ID – More easily connect your existing identity solution with Office 365 by using an alternate login ID. You are no longer required to use the User Principal Name (UPN), which was problematic for some customer implementations.
Forecasting capabilities in Power BI for Office 365 – In Power View, you can now apply predictive forecasting, and hindcasting, when visualizing and exploring your data.
Lync Mobile for Android update – Lync Mobile now supports Android tablets so you can have meetings and conversations anywhere on your preferred device. This update also added the ability to start and ad hoc group conversation and add participants to an ongoing conversation.
Enterprise-grade cloud services – Learn about the updated Office 365 Trust Center and about upcoming security and compliance improvements coming to Office 365 for business customers through more encryption, data loss protection for SharePoint Online, and mobile device management.
OneDrive for Business updates – Updates include simple controls make the most common task easier, with new buttons for new, upload, sync, edit, manage, and share. Site folders show you the document libraries of SharePoint sites you follow right within your main OneDrive for Business web view. Smarter Search helps you more quickly find documents with improvements to scope the search to documents shared with you, site folders, and your personal OneDrive for business.
Changes to the default address lists in Exchange Online – If you use the “All Groups” list in PowerShell scripts please take note that it will be renamed “All Distribution Lists.”
Power BI and SAP BusinessObjects connectivity now generally available – Connect Power BI for Office 365 and SAP BusinessObject BI and use Power Query for Excel to analyze data across your organization.
Simplifying the Office 365 admin experience – New updates aimed at making everyday admin tasks easier. Improvements include DNS record reporting so you know if your domains are properly configured, streamlined adding a new user experience reducing the number of required steps, and a direct link to External Sharing settings some of the more commonly used options.
DirSync has a new option to prevent accidental mass deletion – You can now set up DirSync to detect if a synchronization attempt will delete a number of users above a limit you define. This helps prevent accidental mass deletion of users from Azure AD.
Office 365 developer updates
Develop using OneDrive for Business with the new Office 365 APIs – Build apps and services that use OneDrive for Business storage to hold the content with the new Office 365 APIs.
.NET and JavaScript libraries for Office 365 APIs – You can now access the Office 365 APIs using libraries available for .NET and JavaScript. These libraries make it easier to interact with the REST APIs from the device or platform of your choice.
Add Apps for Office to your Access app – Apps for Office are custom add-ons you can plug into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint to add powerful features. We’re introducing the ability to add apps for Office to Access apps, the online databases you create in Access 2013.
Update on Autohosted Apps Preview program – We’re announcing that the Office 365 Autohosted Apps Preview program will end on June 30, 2014. After June 30th, developers will not be able to create new autohosted apps in SharePoint. Apps that are currently running in the service will not be affected or shut down. We’ll post an update on this blog once we have an exact date of the shutdown of autohosted apps running in the service.
Please note that some of the updates may take time to show up in your Office 365 account, because they’re being rolled out to customers worldwide.
